  • 137B Mentone Parade Mentone ViC (map)

Join Maria Papadontas for a workshop that can support you to learn more about how your nervous system responds to cues in your environment and the benefits and possibilities of somatic techniques.

Stress and anxiety often live in our bodies long after our mind has moved on. It is often said that the "body remembers what the mind forgets” and for a very good reason. It is well evidenced that the body and mind have a connection that is inextricably linked and has profound impacts.

When we feel overwhelmed or experience an adversity, our nervous system responds - sometimes without us even realising it. The mind and body are responding to your nervous system that is ensure our ’safety’. Mind-body tools and techniques allow us to establish balance or homeostasis to improve the nervous systems regulation which are key to maintaining health.

The vagus nerve, a central factor in our body’s stress and restoration system helps regulate our breath and heart rate and can also support regulating our emotional wellbeing.

This workshop will help you:

  • understand how to tune into your body’s subtle cues,

  • understand how your vagus nerve supports stress relief and emotional regulation

  • develop an inner felt sense though body based practices

  • explore tools to calm anxiety and access your relaxation response.

No experience is necessary - only a willingness to explore with curiosity and compassion. Whether you experience stress or anxiety or simply want to feel more grounded in your body, this is a starting point for you to explore these body based techniques.
