  • 137B Mentone Parade Mentone ViC (map)

Yoga is an ancient practice and a complete philosophy which guides us to live a healthy and happy life with meaning and connection. It is a systematic and scientific process that supports and guides us to reach our full potential.

The origins of yoga are thousands of years old and have been laid down in texts such Patajali’s Yoga Sutras and The Bhagavad Gita. These guides give us an insight into the meaning of yoga and how to practice in our daily lives. This is particularly relevant in our modern world where the mind is in constant flux and over busy.

In the first chapter of yoga sutras, Sage Patanjali defines yoga as:
Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah: Yoga is stilling the fluctuations of the mind. (1.2)
This is the goal of yoga.
The second chapter teaches us the path. These are the eight limbs of yoga
Why should we practice the eight limbs? Patanjali explains this in Sutra 28 of the second chapter.

“Yoga anga anushtanat  ashuddhi kshaye jnanadi Apthiraviveka khyatehe’’ (2. 28)

“By the sustained practice of the eight limbs of yoga, the impurities are destroyed and the light of wisdom, discrimination shines forth.”
In this 2 hour immersion we will dive in to Yoga Philosophy as we explore the Eight limbs and how these relate to us in our daily lives. You will gain insight into how Yoga Philosophy can be incorporated in to your routine and support you lead a more fulfilling, kinder and meaningful life.
