Myofascial release is a slow, mindful practice that supports the body in letting go of deep, habitual tension held within the fascia—the connective tissue that weaves through muscles, joints, and organs.
This practice complements Yin Yoga by targeting specific areas of tension and can enhance overall body alignment, can help relieve pain and discomfort by targeting tight and restricted areas, can improve mobility and flexibility and can enhance recovery by improving blood flow and reducing inflammation.
Rather than stretching muscles in a dynamic way, myofascial release in yoga invites stillness, sustained pressure, and conscious breath. Using props such as yoga balls, gentle pressure is applied to specific areas of the body and held long enough for the fascia to soften, hydrate, and release. The practice is subtle and deeply internal, encouraging the body to unwind from the inside out.
This approach aligns beautifully with yogic principles:
Ahimsa (non-harm): there is no pushing or striving—only listening and responding
Svadhyaya (self-study): awareness is brought to sensation, breath, and inner response
Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses): attention naturally turns inward as the nervous system settles
In this workshop, Myofascial release and yin yoga come together in a way that’s both informative and nourishing. Combining both massage and compression techniques with various props you’ll be guided through a practice that will leave you feeling more relaxed, refreshed and more connected to your body!
